F.J. - Saw the DC show last night. It was awful. The energy was high. The showmanship was great. The musicianship was lacking. There were numerous songs where they were completely off sync. Particularly on "The Cradle will Rock" you could barely tellwhat they were playing. I hopethis was a one off. I was in boarding school during the 1984 tour so I have waited 23 years for this show. Very Disappointing.
Michelle - Verizon Center, Washington DC Concert--- Did NOT disappoint! They played like they never missed a day together. The entire Center went WILD as they once again rocked us all the way back to "the day"! David as usual was the showman we all love and look forward to being entertained by. Wolf was awesome and the pride VH fans feel to see him following in his daddys footsteps is incredible. AND EDDIE.....Well I lost my voice screaming WE LOVE YOU EDDIE VAN HALEN....and we do!!! It was worth the $150 a ticket to hear Eddie play.. they played all of the songs so well that they've picked up a whole new generation of loyal Van Halen fans. There were the older gang (myself included in our 40's) and there were our kids in their 20's and then there were teenagers there and we all rocked together compliments of the greatest rockers of our generation... The sound was right on!! Come on back to Washington Van Halen cause WE LOVE YOU and YES we ALL missed you! It was emotional to see them together again and it was clear that they MISSED US TOO!!! Keep on keepen on and your fans will keep on coming to!!! AWESOME SHOW!
Kevin - 2007 Tour Review of DC show on 1 Nov -- One word, disappointed and this comes from a HUGE original VH fan. My issues:
1) Crowd energy was low -- too many old farts wanting to sit down, I guess.
2) Music totally overpowers vocals
3) Dave spoke lyrics lot of the time instead of singing them
4) Wolfie was competent, but he's no Mikey.
5) Mickey WAS the harmony and BU vocals, with him missing, many songs were lacking
6) Eddies solo -- the man has been playing the same flippin' solo with minor changes since 5150. Change it up Ed!
The positives --
1) DD and all his campy glory -- the 8 foot mic during jump was fantastic
2) DD acoustic into to Ice Cream Man was the highlight of the show. Even though he probably says the exact same thing at every show, it felt like he was saying it for the first time and we were privy to his private musings -- fantastic moment.
3) Ton of old school songs to sate the appetite of the hardcore fans -- I just wished they played Simple Rhyme, my all time favorite song.
Overall, I give the show a C+
E.C. - I saw the show in washington last night , one word-unbeliveable.My wife is a country music fan but after last nights show she is now a VH fan. what can i say the guys where at the top of their game. I saw them in 1983 . last night was by far so much better.
Steve - I was at rougues at VA beach the day VH1 came out(a bar)unbelievable! I was at the verizon last night 11/1 in DC - Equally unbelievable. What is with the EVH gear(amps and guitars) are they on the site ? As for the winers who judge everyone that has personal problems and have a problem with a guy playing bass with his dad shut up! They have to start playing big venues at some point. Rockon eddie
