This is Van Halen.com - a totally UNOFFICIAL and UNAUTHORIZED Van Halen fan site, operated by a fan who has been following them since 1978 (check out our original autographed VH1 album ). We found that many of the older Van Halen sites are gone now, and we wanted to offer more of a fan perspective than the official site at www.Van-Halen.com, which we also recommend for official news. We hope to provide this, and encourage feedback from fans all over the world. Please help us by contributing your thoughts, links, photos, and feedback.

VAN HALEN ANNOUNCES 2012 TOUR!
New York Daily News: Van Halen announced Monday on its website that the band is going on tour next year with original lead singer David Lee Roth, who left the band during its heyday in 1985, back behind the mic.
The band will not be touring with its entire classic lineup, however. Original bassist Mike Anthony is enjoying success with another ex-Van Halen singer, Sammy Hagar, in the supergroup Chickenfoot. Eddie’s son Wolfgang took over Anthony’s spot during an ill-fated 2007 tour - that was shortened when Eddie Van Halen went into rehab for alcohol abuse.
Lee Roth had rejoined the band for that tour, but remained in limbo as Van Halen's future was unclear. Then earlier this year, Rolling Stone Magazine reported that the band was hard at work at recording a new studio album. Eddie’s brother, Alex, is the only other original member to have stayed with the band since its inception in the ’70s.
The first tickets for the Van Halen 2012 tour go on sale Jan. 10.

Blabbermouth.net: Van Halen a "No-Show" at Grammy Nomination Concert
Although it was strongly hinted that VAN HALEN would make a "special announcement" on November 30 at the Grammy Awards nominations concert, the event came and went without the band making an appearance.
Grammy organizers had been promising for weeks that Wednesday's televised concert would feature "a special live announcement from a truly iconic group regarding their historic reunion set to take place on the Grammy stage on February 12, 2012.

From PR-Inside.com: EDDIE VAN HALEN has given VAN HALEN fans cause to celebrate after revealing he's planning to regroup with his son, brother and frontman DAVID LEE ROTH to record new material. The Van Halens and Lee Roth hit the road for a successful hits tour in 2007 and now the quartet is intent on releasing an album of new songs.
Guitar great Eddie Van Halen tells Spinner.com he plans to hit the studio with his son Wolfie, brother Alex and Lee Roth after his June (09) wedding to publicist Janie Liszewski. He says, "I hope that after Janie and I get married, and Wolfie graduates, that we sit down and discuss recording new music, which I have tons of.
"If Dave's up for singing... then (we'll) do another tour, and just see where it takes us. Actually, next week or the week after Wolfie, Alex, and I are gonna start jamming. Maybe we'll give Dave a call and see what he's up to. He's off, always doing his own thing, and he checks in every now and then to see how we're doing."

| 9/12/08: GOP’s Use of “Right Now” Leads to Sammy Hagar-Eddie Van Halen Phone Tag
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
Rolling Stone:
Days before Heart served the GOP campaign with a cease-and-desist letter for playing their 1977 hit “Barracuda” to introduce VP pick Sarah Palin (high school alias: “Sarah Barracuda”) at the August 31st Republican convention,
Van Halen sounded off against McCain and Co. for blasting their tune “Right Now” at a rally in Dayton, Ohio. “Permission was not sought or granted nor would it have been given [to use the song],” Alex and Eddie Van Halen said in a statement. But not every VH member agreed.
“I got goosebumps from it — my fur went up,” says the band’s ex-frontman, Sammy Hagar, who co-wrote and sang the song — and said he’d be “just as happy” if Obama played it. “I was honored that a potential president of the United States used those words in a positive sense, like, ‘We gotta act now!’ ”
Hagar, who’s tight-lipped on his presidential endorsement (”I vote for the man, not the party,” he says) heard that McCain used the tune via a deluge of phone calls. “I got calls from relatives, friends, doctors, lawyers… everyone thought it was so cool,” he says. “Then I started getting excited. Those words are an old Zen philosophy — it’s totally cool that they’re timeless.” Even former bandmate Eddie rang Hagar up.
“I got a message on my cell phone and it was Eddie’s voice,” Hagar recalls. “He goes, ‘Sam? This don’t sound like you. I got the wrong number.’ And he hangs up! So I hit redial. He didn’t answer, but I left a message: ‘Ed, it’s me. If you would like to talk about the ‘Right Now’ situation I’d love to speak to you about it.’ ”
The two never connected, which raises some lingering questions. “Why didn’t [Van Halen] say no when Pepsi Cola gave us a million dollars to use the song in a Pepsi Light commercial?” asks Hagar. “That’s when you say no. That isn’t the message of this song.” But when a potential future president is using it to bring a message to the world, he says, “I’m going, ‘Hell, yes!’”
